Massage

To enable the physiotherapist to palpate the underlying tissue for muscle spasm, scar tissue, contractures etc and for those conditions to be softened and the elasticity and flexibility to be regained as well as the relief of pain.


1. General preventative sports massage - The application of deep massage to give relaxation to any muscles that are found to be holding excessive tension, as tense muscles are more liable to become injured.

2. Remedial sports massage - The application of massage to assist the recovery from particular injuries or applied to problem areas.

3. Recuperative sports massage - To soothe tired and aching muscles after events or hard training, to aid their recovery.

4. Pre-event warm up massage - Short and vigorous massage to warm up and get the blood flowing within muscles, applied before the event starts.
