Trudy Purkiss

Senior Physiotherapist

I graduated from Keele University in 2001 and commenced employment at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire where I gained experience in outpatients, paediatrics, neurosurgery, neurology, cardiothoracics and woman?s health.  I then specialised as a senior physiotherapist in musculoskeletal working across a variety of rotations including elective orthopaedics, outpatients, woman?s health, rheumatology, trauma and orthopaedics.

I was a steward for the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy for 5 years and regional steward for the West Midlands for 2 years during which time I gained a valuable insight into all aspects of the profession.

I have undertaken successful training and examination of the society of orthopaedic medicine (SOM) and am trained in the use of acupuncture for pain relief. I enjoy all aspects of musculoskeletal physiotherapy and have a particular interest in pilates and woman's health.

I am delighted to be a part of the Friarswood Physiotherapy Team and wish to continue my professional practice here. In addition to physiotherapy I enjoy music and play piano, cornet and tenor horn, I also teach piano and lead a gospel choir for young people in Birmingham.  When the weather permits I enjoy walking and cycling.
