Sue Wells
Neurological Physiotherapist
I qualified at Manchester School of Physiotherapy in 1987 and have had a very varied and enjoyable 23 year years working as a physiotherapist both in this country and abroad. I returned to post-graduate study and completed my masters in physiotherapy in 2003 at Keele University.
I presently work at Keele University as a tutor visiting and supporting students on clinical placements. I have also done some neurological teaching sessions for the undergraduate physiotherapy course.
I work two days at Leighton Hospital with people who have long term neurological conditions. My specialist areas are Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease and Motor Neurone Disease. I have also worked in stroke rehabilitation and I was the senior physiotherapist in the stroke unit at Bucknall Hospital.
I have been fortunate enough to spend the last 14 years specialising in neurological needs neurological rehabilitation. I am also fortunate to be able to see clients with neurological needs here at Friarswood.
I have completed several neurological rehabilitation courses and use a variety of techniques based on the Bobath technique and Carr & Shepherd motor re-learning. The techniques aim to retain/re-learn normal movement.
The aim of neurophysiotherapy is to improve quality of life by improving movement and function.
