Helen Burt
Senior Physiotherapist
I qualified in 1994 after completing my degree in physiotherapy at the University of Wolverhampton.
I stayed on in the West Midlands to begin my career as a physiotherapist working at Sandwell Hospital in West Bromwich where I covered most aspects of physiotherapy within an urban general hospital.
From there I moved further afield and took some time out living in Australia. When I returned I took on a local job at Leighton Hospital in Crewe where I specialised in rheumatology and musculo-skeletal physiotherapy. I was also a clinical educator for physiotherapy students.
In 2000 I made the move into private practice and started at Friarswood. I began as a full-time member of staff but since getting married and subsequently becoming a mum I have cut down to part-time hours.
Within the field of physiotherapy I have a variety of interests ranging from traditional treatments through to more complementary approaches being qualified in acupuncture, reiki and reflexology.
I enjoy treating spinal problems especially those relating to the lower back and pelvis, but I also enjoy a challenge with problems from other joints and soft tissues whether they be sport or non-sport in origin.
Outside of work my main hobbies are walking, running, swimming, cycling, going to the gym and doing Pilates. In fact I have an active interest in most sports, I was even at the 2005 4th Ashes Test at Trent Bridge, sitting on the edge of my seat and screaming with the rest of England at the time.
Having been part of the Friarswood team for nearly 6 years now I've got to know many of my 'regular' patients quite well. I would like to think that this is down to my friendly nature and being very conscientious about the care I give to every patient that I treat.
